A prominent American Muslim group has issued a statement of condemnation regardings the massacre of pro-democracy protestors in Egypt. The Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA) strongly condemned the August 14th massacre of peaceful pro-democracy protestors resulting in hundreds of deaths and thousands of wounded. The group says they welcomed the Obama administration’s condemnation of the incident, however the need of the hour is to take action for the release of all political prisoners and the restoration of individual democratic rights in Egypt. ICNA President Naeem Baig said “We condemn all violence including those on the Egyptian Christian community. These politics of dividing the Egyptian society will lead the country down a dangerous road of spiraling violence and suppression of basic human rights”. ICNA sternly demanded that the US Government cease all military aid to Egypt as per the current US law.
