Muslim Convention puts Focus on 'Model Muslim Communities'

NEWARK, NJ, ( 9/5/18) —   – The Mosque Cares | Ministry of Imam W Deen Mohammed hosted the 29th Annual Muslim Convention in Newark, NJ. This historic location affectionately referred to as the New'Ark accommodated a three-day, world class occasion which featured interactive workshops, forum discussions, networking events and traditional programs including the Annual Awards Banquet, Culture Night and the Annual Public Address.

The event featured participation from Community Leaders, New Jersey Officials including representatives from the Governor's Office, four city Mayors and an Olympic Gold Medalist.  Attendees took part in a host of meetings which covered Islamic Studies, Education, Business/Entrepreneurship, Health & Wellness and a host of other learning and growth activities.

Shoppers visited New Africa Marketplace which was free and open to the public. This annual event established by Imam W Deen Mohammed, applies Islamic principles with participation of students and leaders nationwide with extensive study of the Holy Qur’an, Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) and Tafsir of Imam W Deen Mohammed.


"We thank Allah for the success of the 2018 Annual Muslim Convention," stated The Mosque Care's Executive Director Wallace Mohammed.

"Participants and attendees from across and outside the country experienced a sense of togetherness that reinvigorated our family bond. We met, discussed, networked and laid plans as we continue work to build model Muslim Communities."

This year's theme focused on Responses and Solutions For Progress | Building The Community and Family. Through the workshops, discussion sessions and informational gatherings, community members and participants discussed initiatives, projects and plans which will roll out locally and nationally Insha Allah.


Muslim youth and young adults reaffirmed their commitment to positive pursuits, volunteerism and good works as we continue to move forward. Events highlighted continued personal and community successes with people working across all fields with the ultimate goal of pleasing Allah.
